A Walk In The Park Down Memory Lane

I found this post in my drafts. Let's slap a silly title to it and put it out here where it's supposed to be.

Stacie took me to see downtown Greenville one Saturday back in May while she was still helping her mother. I have been going up to South Carolina with her for the past 10 years, but I have never seen the river area in Greenville. I had no idea how beautiful it was and they have a nice set of waterfalls and a park right off of Main Street. We usually head to the mountains to go hiking or see waterfalls, but we didn’t want to be too far away from her mother in case she needed us. I guess it is a good thing she didn’t take me when we were first dating because they have made it much nicer than it was even 5 years ago.

The natural focal point is the waterfalls on the Reedy River in the Falls Park. The man made attraction is the Liberty Bridge that was designed to allow better views to the falls and park. It is a really cool pedestrian bridge that is suspended from only one side and gives perfect views in to the falls area. It is amazing how different the area looks since they tore down the old 6 lane automotive bridge and replaced it with this engineering masterpiece.

We took a break from walking around the park and had lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. Smoke on the Water was a nice place and the food was good. The portions were not as large as we were expecting, but the prices weren’t high either. After lunch, we walked around for about another half and hour and then settled in to a swing to talk and catch up on the past month. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed our time together.
